Berlin, 2. Juni 1921: Der armenische Student Soghomon Tehlirian erschießt den ehemaligen Großwesir des Osmanischen Reiches und Hauptverantwortlichen für den Völkermord an den Armeniern, Mehmed Talaat, genannt Talaat Pascha.
Nach einem flüchtigen zweitägigen Prozess wurde Tehlirian von einem Berliner Gericht überraschend freigesprochen. Der Prozess wurde zu einem Tribunal für Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit und schrieb Rechtsgeschichte.
