Prof. Dr. Dres. h. c. Baums is a leading European legal scholar and author who has advised German governments and international institutions during the last 30 years, including former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, the OSCE, and the World Bank. He is a recipient of the First Class Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and has received numerous awards and accolades.
Prof. Baums is considered the driving force of Corporate Governance in Germany, having served as an advisor on ethics to the board of the Central Bank of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as a member of the Advisory Council to the European Commission on Corporate Governance and Corporate Law. He has given numerous lectures in leading universities in Europe and in the U.S., including Berkeley, Stanford, and Columbia. He has published more than 140 books and articles on corporations, civil, and antitrust law.
Notably, Prof. Baums invited a delegation from the Republic of Armenia to participate at the European Model Company Act Conference in 2020 to discuss legal reforms in Armenian company law.
